A little look on the life of John Wayne Part 1

Ah, the famous Western hero, from the day he was born to the end of his legacy, his life has been iconic to so many throughout the world.

He was born Marion Robert Morrison May 26, 1907(1907-05-26) Winterset, Iowa in this quaint old cottage down in Winterset.

Later on, when he was older and after working as a prop man at Fox Film corporation he became the star of his first motion picture, The Big trail. It was, at first, a commercial failure, but became the first epic Western sound motion picture. Raoul Walsh who “discovered” Marion Morrison, decided that Marion needed a stage name and came up with Anthony Wayne, but Fox Studios Chief Winfield Sheehan said it sounded too Italian. Raoul Walsh then suggested John Wayne; Winfield liked it and the name was set (something to note, John Wayne was not even present at the meeting!).

What words can describe?

Mr.Wayne afterwards continued making Western films (most notably Monogram Pictures and serials for Mascot Pictures Corporation) in such pictures as The Three Musketeers (1933).
A French Foreign Legion” (with absolutely no resemblance to the novel);
“Three Musquiteers Westerns”, whose title was a play on the Alexandre Dumas, père classic.
Then beginning in 1928 (and for 35 more years) he began playing in more then 20 John Ford films such as Stagecoach (1939); She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949); The Quiet Man (1952); The Searchers (1956); The Wings of Eagles (1957); and, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962). His performance in Stagecoach made him a star, the remainder of his career made him a legend.
